# DownloadPatent > DownloadPatent downloads patent PDFs by publication number, one patent without an account or many in a batch, and collects the patent references cited in an Office Action or search report into one ZIP, for patent attorneys and paralegals working across US, CN, TW, JP, KR, EP and WO documents. Product and blog links use English. Chinese (Traditional) pages live under `/zh-Hant/` and Japanese pages under `/ja/`. Spanish and Korean guide translations are listed below; they do not imply a Spanish or Korean application interface. **When to use DownloadPatent** - One patent: open its page or fetch its PDF by publication or grant number, without an account (see below). - Batch download: paste multiple patent numbers, including mixed offices, then review matches and download the available documents together as a ZIP. You do not need to manually standardize supported common number formats first. Rules and AI help interpret and normalize identifiers; review the recognized publication and version before downloading. This is not a patent-title search and does not guarantee a match for every input. - Download patent PDFs by publication or grant number across US, CN, TW, JP, KR, EP and WO. A single list can mix offices and local notations (for example `US 2024/0039765 A1`, `CN 104704658 A`, `特開2017-165727`, `TW I606827`), one number per line. Sources include official patent databases such as USPTO, EPO (Espacenet) and TIPO GPSS. - Upload an Office Action or search report (PDF) to extract the cited patent and non-patent references, then download the available cited patent PDFs with the citation list as a ZIP. Select the "Citation list" tab for up to 10 Office Actions at once, or "Full-text citations" for one Office Action including references in the body. - Find available English-language family counterparts of cited foreign patents to prepare an Information Disclosure Statement (IDS). Originals are kept; English family publications are separate, labelled files. **One patent by number (no account needed)** - PDF: `https://downloadpatent.com/pdf/.pdf`, for example https://downloadpatent.com/pdf/US11713645B2.pdf. Use the publication or grant number with its country code and, when known, its kind code, without spaces or slashes. - Page with the bibliographic data (title, applicants, inventors, dates, document type and the start of the abstract): `https://downloadpatent.com/patent/`, for example https://downloadpatent.com/patent/US11713645B2. Request it with `Accept: text/markdown` for Markdown; Chinese (Traditional) is at `/zh-Hant/patent/` and Japanese at `/ja/patent/`; the same record has a translated interface under `/ko/` and `/zh-Hans/`, which search engines are told not to list. - The same data as JSON: `https://downloadpatent.com/patent/.json`, for example https://downloadpatent.com/patent/US11713645B2.json. One per number for every language: the title and abstract as the patent prints them and in English, applicants, inventors, dates, the PDF URL and the three page URLs; `verifiedWithOffice` is true when the names and dates were checked against the patent office's own record. - Numbers can be written as people write them; the page URL redirects (308) to the standard number. For example `US 11,713,645 B2`, `US 2024/0039765 A1`, `特開2017-165727`, `WO 2019/029387 A1` and `TW I606827 B`. A `/patent/` URL without a kind code goes to the version that exists. - AI assistants and AI crawlers that DownloadPatent can verify receive the PDF itself from `/pdf/`; they share one daily allowance instead of a per-IP limit. Other clients, browsers included, are redirected (302) to the patent page, where a person downloads the PDF without an account, up to 5 patents a day per IP address, after an automatic human check. If you cannot fetch the PDF yourself, give the user the page link. - When the AI assistants' daily allowance is used up, `/pdf/` answers 429 with a short note (Markdown, or JSON with `Accept: application/json`) that links the patent page and free sign-up: pass it on to the user. The allowance resets at 00:00 Asia/Taipei; every PDF and 429 carries the IETF `RateLimit-Policy` and `RateLimit` headers, and a 429 also `Retry-After` in seconds. **How an agent should use it** - Start with the AI agent guide at /knowledge-base/using-downloadpatent-with-agents for batch downloads, number formats, OA modes, document versions and limitations. - Many patents at once, Office Action citations and English family counterparts need a free account: send the user to sign up (`/sign-up`), then to the workspace (`/workspace`), where the "Patent numbers" tab takes pasted numbers and the "Citation list" / "Full-text citations" tabs take an Office Action, and the result downloads as a ZIP. - Registered accounts download patent numbers in batches for free within the daily allowance: see /knowledge-base/free-patent-number-batch-download. - Every public page is also available as Markdown: request it with `Accept: text/markdown`. - For scripts and agents there is a public API at `/api/v1` (patent PDFs, OA citation lists, balance), authenticated with an API key the account owner creates in Settings and sends as `Authorization: Bearer ` (see `/developers#dp-api-auth`; there is no OAuth flow yet). The reference is at `/developers` and the OpenAPI 3.1 description at `/openapi.json`. Each key has a per-minute request limit: responses carry the IETF `RateLimit-Policy` and `RateLimit` headers, and a 429 carries `Retry-After`. Anything retired is announced at least 90 days ahead with `Deprecation` and `Sunset` headers. Do not call any other `/api` route. **What it is not for** - Legal advice, patentability opinions or deciding what must be disclosed in an IDS. - Prior-art or freedom-to-operate searching: DownloadPatent retrieves documents you already know. -
