Read the references

We look for citations in both the OA text and its reference lists. Patent documents and non-patent literature are separated.

Confirm the documents

Review identified publication numbers and choose the versions you want. Unresolved references stay visible so you can check them.

Take the files with you

Download the selected patent PDFs in an organized ZIP. NPL references are included as a list, not as downloaded articles.

What goes into your package?

The package contains cited patent PDFs that are available, the citation list, and a failure notice when a cited document cannot be retrieved.

Each file is labeled by publication and version. Missing files do not block the rest of your download.

What still needs your review?

Check the extracted citations against the OA and verify the available publication identifiers before relying on the package.

We prepare documents. We do not file an IDS or provide a legal opinion on what must be disclosed.

Document privacy

Choose the intake mode that matches your Office Action files.

The Citation list tab accepts up to ten Office Action PDF files in one request and reads the official reference list. The Full-text citations tab accepts one Office Action PDF and analyzes its contents, including the body text. Each file must be a readable, unencrypted PDF no larger than 25 MB. A poor scan or unusual layout can make citations harder to detect, so keep the original notice for checking.

Both options return a citation set for review. An extracted number is a candidate to verify against the notice, not proof that the referenced publication was identified correctly.

The Full-text citations tab looks for patent and non-patent citations in the body as well as the reference list. Comparing both locations helps you review a citation discussed in the text but missing from a formatted list, or a kind code that differs from the cited publication. Confirm each match against the original Office Action.

Patent PDFs and non-patent literature have different outputs.

Retrieved cited-patent PDFs can be packaged with the citation list. If a document cannot be retrieved, the result identifies the missing item so you can follow it up without losing other files. A failed citation does not block successful downloads.

Journal articles, books, standards and other NPL stay in a separate list; the work itself is not downloaded. Obtain it from an authorized source and handle it in your own review process.

Document collection does not prepare a response or file an IDS.

The package helps gather and label references for review. You remain responsible for checking citation completeness, selecting case documents and preparing response or disclosure papers in your established process. DownloadPatent does not make a legal determination about office requirements.

What Office Action files can I upload?
Use readable, unencrypted PDFs up to 25 MB each. The Citation list tab accepts up to ten files in one request and reads the official citation list; the Full-text citations tab analyzes one PDF, including body text. Unreadable scans may need manual review.
Does it find references only in the final citation list?
The Full-text citations tab checks the Office Action body and its reference list. The Citation list tab reads the official list. Compare extracted citations with the original notice because the identifier still needs your confirmation.
Are journal articles and other NPL downloaded?
No. Non-patent literature stays in a review list, separate from patent documents. Obtain the article, book or standard from a source authorized to provide it.
What if a cited patent PDF is unavailable?
The result and package identify the unavailable citation. Other selected patent PDFs can still be downloaded, and you can follow up the unresolved reference against the Office Action or an official record.
Does DownloadPatent prepare a response or submit an IDS?
No. It collects cited documents and a citation list for review. It does not prepare an Office Action response, complete an IDS, submit to a patent office or provide legal advice.
