Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a printhead assembly for use in a printer. The printhead assembly includes a printhead positioned to engage a platen roller of the printer and a printhead holder retaining the printhead. The printhead assembly also includes a cam shaft designed to rotate into an idle position and one or more active positions and a force cam connected to the cam shaft and positioned to apply a variable downward force to the printhead.
