Getting started

Troubleshooting common download errors

Use the input, source and file checks in this order when a row is unsupported, unavailable or only partially complete.

Back to the guides

1. The number was not recognized

Check the country prefix, digit sequence and kind code. Prefer a publication number. For an application number, remember that it only starts a resolution attempt; it does not guarantee a publication or PDF. Compare the input with the examples in Coverage & formats and correct the row rather than guessing.

2. The number was recognized but no document was found

A valid format is not the same as an available publication. Check whether the source has published the document and whether the exact kind is supported. An unavailable item can be reviewed separately while other available files in the batch continue.

3. The output is partial or a version is missing

Download available original patent PDFs and English family publications. Google machine translations are external links only: open them on Google Patents; they cannot be selected or included in a download. DownloadPatent does not generate or download rebuilt text PDFs or DOCX files. Keep the original, check each item status, and review missing family publications separately.

4. The OA upload was rejected

The OA workflow expects a PDF Office Action up to 25 MB. Confirm the file extension and MIME type, then retry with a readable file from a supported search-report source. If the problem persists, record the time, safe-to-share status text and reproduction steps; do not include client or case details in a support request.
